February 2010 News

February 1, 2010

Now the festive season is over its time to get the lawn and garden back into shape. Lawns sometimes take a battering during January and February is a good time to get lawns to a strong and healthy state before autumn arrives.

After a very hot and dry month around Australia, in particular the southern states, it is time to do some recovery work.

February is a great time for fertilising and an occasional deep watering.  The main aim in February lawn maintenance is to have a green lush and healthy lawn by the end of summer in preparation for the cooler months ahead.  A healthy lawn at the end of summer makes for a better lawn in winter.

If you’re in tropical Australia, or areas of days regularly above 36 degrees, then delay the February tips until March.

If you live in an area that is prone to Army worm attack, keep your eye out as they can be around still in February.

Check out my webisodes on this site that will help your lawn keep looking great during February:
